MLB star Jakob Junis was taken to the hospital after a freak accident during training.
The 31-year-old pitcher was hit in the neck by a fly ball as the Milwaukee Brewers prepared to face the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.

Junis was in the infield as Pirates infielder Alika Williams hit balls in batting practice at PNC Park.
An errant ball from Williams flew toward Junis, hitting him hard in the side of the neck.
The Brewers pitcher sank to the ground and was immediately attended to by teammates and medical staff.
Junis remained lying on the field for 20 minutes, for NBC Sports.
An ambulance was eventually taken to the stadium to collect the MLB star, before taking him to a local hospital.
“Brewers pitcher Jakob Junis was struck in the neck by a batted ball during batting practice,” read a statement from the Brewers posted on X.
“He is conscious, alert and responsive. He was sent to the hospital for further evaluation.”
“I hope he’s all right. Prayers,” one concerned fan wrote in response.
“All the best for a speedy recovery, Jakob,” said a second.
“Prayers man this is horrible,” commented another.
“What is our luck??? Hoping he is ok,” added a fourth.
Junis was selected in the 29th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals.
He made his MLB debut for the team in 2017 and joined the Royals starting rotation a season later.
Junis left the Royals to join the San Francisco Giants in 2022 before switching to the Brewers last offseason.
He signed a one-year, $7 million contract with Milwaukee that expanded his career earnings to $12,501,769, per Spotrac.
He is conscious, alert and responsive.
Brewers’ statement in June
Junis has played just once this season, giving up three hits in a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins.
He was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 6 due to a shoulder injury.
The Brewers fell to 14-7 in the regular season due to Junis’ absence on Monday night.
They lost 4-2 to the Pirates (12-11), with Andrew McCutchen recording 3 hits and a home run.
Milwaukee will look to level the series when they face Pittsburgh on April 23.
