In 2001, Johnson produced one of the most iconic moments in MLB history.

During a spring training game, Johnson threw one of his famous fastballs toward home plate.

However, as he threw it toward home plate, a bird flew into the ball’s path and collided with it.

After an explosion of feathers, Johnson was forever remembered for killing a bird with one of his throws.

Now, 20 years later, Johnson is making things right by teaming up with DirecTV to give birds new homes.

“23 years later, it still exists, it still seems to be relevant,” Johnson told Front Office Sports.

“So after 23 years, I’m doing a nice campaign with DirecTV and what they did was make me do these bird estimates with their old satellite dishes.

“The campaign is really about trying to straighten out the bird I hit with the baseball.

“I think everyone will find this very funny.”

Johnson posted the start of his campaign on social media and fans loved his contribution to the birds after his tragic event.

“Amazing stuff! I loved it, Randy!” one fan said.

“This commercial is without a doubt the best ad I’ve seen in a long time!” another fan said.

“This is absolutely incredible!” a third fan said.

“What a way to get into the madness, RJ,” said a fourth fan.
