A New York Mets fan won’t forget his experience on a $1 hot dog night in a hurry.
Tuesday night at Citi Field was historic for the hometown Mets as they hosted the Chicago Cubs.

However, this new chapter in the history books was not due to the result, with the Mets winning 4-2, but rather to the incredible consumption of processed meats.
Fans in attendance made the most of the $1 hot dog night, snapping up more than 44,000 of them, which set a new record for the stadium.
Unfortunately, one of the fans who played a central role in this success ended up being expelled by security.
Wearing a hot dog helmet and a t-shirt that said “Bad day to be brilliant,” he also included a chart in which they recorded how many hot dogs and bears he had consumed.
Forcing them to the ground while being cheered on by their fellow fans, some eventually began throwing their extra hot dogs in their direction.
The rain of hot dogs everywhere prompted security to intervene.
Chants of “Let him eat” echoed from the fans, before he was given a standing ovation as he left the stadium.
The unidentified fan’s final tally was “Dogs: Nine” and “Beers: 10,” as per a photo which originated on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The user who shared the photo added: “He and his girlfriend came from Westchester to have fun.
“Welder, worker, just wants to drink beer and eat glizzys.”
Footage of the incident quickly circulated on X, with one fan dubbing him “#locallegend.”
“It hurts to see other people living their dream,” commented a second.
“This has to be an always sunny episode,” joked a third.
While another added, “Mets = Anti Fun.”

Unfortunately, it looks like some hot dogs went uneaten on Tuesday.
The team reportedly ordered 70,000 in anticipation of the event, according to Steve Gelbs from SNY TV.
“An extra refrigerated truck was needed to house all the hot dogs,” he added.
Five Major MLB Rule Changes in 2024
1. The pitch clock is reduced from 20 to 18 seconds with runners on base. It will remain at 15 seconds with the bases empty.
2. When a pitching change is made, the inning clock will reset to 2:00 instead of 2:15 as happened last year.
3. Teams will only be able to visit four mounds per game in 2024, compared to five last season.
4. Fielders and fielders who block bases will be cited for obstruction by the umpires.
5. The runners’ lane from home plate to first base has been widened to include the dirt between the grass and the white line.
As for the game itself, the star of the show was DJ Stewart who finished with three runs and a home run.
The Mets will host the Cubs again on Wednesday at 7:10 pm ET.
