The Tigers are the 24th of 30 MLB teams to unveil a City Connect uniform, inspired by ties to the automotive industry.

The uniform is dark blue and black, with a pattern in the middle that resembles the tread of a tire.

The shirt says “MOTOR CITY” on the front, while the hats say “DETROIT.”

The Tigers kept it extremely simple with their City Connect jerseys, but the designers are thrilled with the results.

“We are excited to introduce the Tigers City Connect uniforms and celebrate the past, present and future of the Motor City,” said Ryan Gustafson, president and CEO of Ilitch Sports + Entertainment in the press release.

“City Connect uniforms represent Detroit’s unique combination of strength and innovation and pay homage to the city that put the world on wheels.

“From the tire treads to the VIN tag to the M-1 patch on the sleeve, there are unique features in the batting uniforms, caps and helmets that we think Tigers fans and Detroiters will appreciate.

“Above all else, the uniforms symbolize the revitalization and exciting future that lies ahead for the Tigers and our great city.”

The Tigers are following in the footsteps of their hometown NBA team, the Pistons, who also wear a Motor City-themed uniform for the NBA’s City Edition jersey line.

These uniforms are also dark blue in color, but also have red details.

MLB fans were split on whether or not they liked the designs, but a large consensus was that they were a little boring.

“They don’t look bad, they’re just boring,” said one fan.

“It’s like Britain made an effort. They’re cool but boring. I wish the pants were white,” said another fan.

“I’m starting to hate all these City Connect shirts,” said a third fan.

“They’re fine. They look like football kits,” said a fourth fan.

Five more teams will receive City Connect jerseys this season to complete the group.

The Cleveland Guardians will reveal theirs on May 17th, the St. Louis Cardinals on May 25th, the Toronto Blue Jays on May 31st and the Minnesota Twins on June 14th.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will also release a second City Connect jersey on June 21st.

After this round of releases, only the Oakland A’s and New York Yankees will be left without connections to the city.

The A’s will not receive due to plans to leave the city, and the Yankees have opted out of the program.
