Glasnow was a pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays, and during his time there, he spotted Murphy from a distance.

Dodgers announcer Joe Davis shared on the broadcast how Glasnow was able to approach her.

“At the stadium when he was pitching for the Rays, he said he noticed her from a distance and said, ‘She looks beautiful,’ so he asked the team photographer to zoom in on her,” Davis said.

Glasnow then located her in the stands and threw a baseball where she was sitting.

The baseball had his phone number written on it along with the message “text me.”

Murphy returned to the next game with his own baseball that had his number on it and the message “No, you text me.”

“He did it and the rest is history,” Davis said.

Glasnow previously explained meeting Murphy to the Los Angeles Times before the season began.

“I saw a girl who was kind of cute, so I asked our team photographer to zoom in on her — that seems really weird — but she was healthy, with a girl-next-door look,” Glasnow said.

“So I wrote my phone number on a ball, threw it to her and told her to text me.

“She came to the next game, threw me a ball with her number on it and told me to text her.”

Glasnow originally didn’t think anything would happen, but that changed when he formally met her.

“I met her and she was amazing. She has a really good personality, loves traveling and is really fun, so it’s super easy,” he said.

“That was the first time I threw a ball to someone [with my phone number on it], also. And I still don’t think she believes me.”

Five Major MLB Rule Changes in 2024

1. The pitch clock is reduced from 20 to 18 seconds with runners on base. It will remain at 15 seconds with the bases empty.

2. When a pitching change is made, the inning clock will reset to 2:00 instead of 2:15 as happened last year.

3. Teams will only be able to visit four mounds per game in 2024, compared to five last season.

4. Fielders and fielders who block bases will be cited for obstruction by the umpires.

5. The runners’ lane from home plate to first base has been widened to include the dirt between the grass and the white line.

Glasnow began his MLB career with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2016 before being traded to the Rays in 2018.

He was traded to the Dodgers this offseason and signed a five-year extension worth $136.5 million.

The right-hander is off to a fantastic start this season, posting a 2.53 ERA this season.

Glasnow is credited with six of the Dodgers’ 27 wins so far this season.
