MLB announcers were shocked beyond belief by an extremely rare feat by a Seattle Mariners fan.

The sequence occurred during Monday night’s MLB game between the home team Mariners and the Kansas City Royals at T-Mobile Park.

A Seattle Mariners fan caught two foul balls on consecutive pitches during the first inning of an MLB game on Monday night.

During the first inning, Mariners left-handed hitter Josh Rojas stepped up to the plate and hit a foul ball down the left-field line.

The ball ended up being caught on the spot by a Mariners fan who didn’t have a glove and was wearing Julio Rodriguez’s jersey.

The fan celebrated when he caught the souvenir while the crowd applauded the capture.

On the next field, Rojas made another foul in the same direction.

And the fan who caught the ball was the same one who caught the previous free kick.

“He got them both!” shouted Mariners TV announcer Aaron Goldsmith.

The fan, in turn, stood up and lifted the two balls into the air.

The crowd applauded the unusual feat done by the fan.

Then the Mariners’ TV color commentator said, “Get that man a contract.”

Social media users reacted to the achievement, with one writing in X: “This is pure skill. It’s a Jedi Master there doing what Jedi Masters do.”

The moment also happened during the Mariners’ first at-bat of the game.

Fortunately for fans who wanted a foul ball for themselves, the lucky Mariners fan who received two consecutive foul balls would not get another ball.

Still, the feat turned out to be extremely unusual.

According to MLB Statisticsthe fan had a 0.0001% probability of recovering two consecutive foul balls.

The Mariners’ capacity accommodates 48,000 fans.

Probability also took into account that 14,984 fans attended the MLB game.

Five Major MLB Rule Changes in 2024

1. The pitch clock is reduced from 20 to 18 seconds with runners on base. It will remain at 15 seconds with the bases empty.

2. When a pitching change is made, the inning clock will reset to 2:00 instead of 2:15 as happened last year.

3. Teams will only be able to visit four mounds per game in 2024, compared to five last season.

4. Fielders and fielders who block bases will be cited for obstruction by the umpires.

5. The runners’ lane from home plate to first base has been widened to include the dirt between the grass and the white line.

Seattle beat the Royals 6-2.

The Mariners are in first place in the AL West with a 23-19 record.
