THE NEW YORK YANKEES were a dominant force in Major League Baseball in the mid-1990s.

Before his conviction in 2009, Mel Hall was known for his time with the Yankees in the early 1990s.

Who is Mel Hall?

Melvin Hall Jr. is a former professional baseball player.

The Chicago Cubs drafted him in the 2nd round of the 1978 MLB June Amateur Draft.

From 1981 to 1992, he played in the MLB for various teams such as the Chicago Cubs, the Cleveland Guardians, then known as the Indians, and the New York Yankees.

After a three-year stint in Japan, the outfielder returned to the United States in 1996.

He played for the San Francisco Giants that year, but was released early in the season.

What was he convicted of?

In 2009, Mel Hall was convicted of sexually assaulting two underage girls he coached in a youth basketball program.

One of the girls was 12 years old at the time of the attack, according to ESPN.

In 1990, the convicted sex offender also flashed a girlfriend of his, who was 15 at the time, reports. People.

A documentary series called Bronx Zoo ’90: Crime Chaos and Baseball will follow, among other things, the crimes of Mel Hall.

The show is a three-part series that will premiere on May 16, 2024, on Peacock.

Where is Mel Hall now?

Mel Hall was sentenced to 45 years in prison with a minimum of 22 years before becoming eligible for parole.

The earliest possible parole date is 2031.

According to Texas inmate records, Hall is serving time at the HH Coffield Unit in Tennessee Colony, Texas.
