BRANDON Marsh started a new craze in Philadelphia that has baseball fans desperate to buy the t-shirt.

The 26-year-old from the Atlanta suburb of Buford, Georgia, is one of the most recognizable faces in Major League Baseball with his iconic beard.

And earlier this month a fan asked him a question that sparked such an online frenzy that it led to shirts being sold at the team store.

Marsh was being interviewed during a Philadelphia Phillies game that was broadcast live on ESPN.

The Phillies faced the San Francisco Giants in a Sunday Night baseball game when the broadcasters read a fan question to Marsh.

The outfielder was asked if he should form a rock band, who he would hire from the team.

Marsh chose Garrett Stubbs, Kyle Schwarber and Cristian Pache.

He said, “Oh, but what’s the name? ‘Stay loose and sexy,’ honey.”

A clip of that interview was posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

And now, the Phillies are selling a t-shirt with the faces of the four players and the “Stay Loose and Sexy” logo for $39.99 at the team store.

Marsh was asked about the energy in the locker room by some UK media last week.

“The music is loud, the atmosphere is loud, dancing a lot,” he said.

“Lots of everything – lots of fun.

“You’ve got a little house music, a little rap, a little country, a little rock. You’ve got it all.

“This team knows how to have fun.”

The Phillies’ party atmosphere may be in part due to the fact that they have posted the best 50-game start in MLB since 2001 and in franchise history.

They won 36 of their first 50 games and reached the top of the National League East division.

Home runs and boomsticks

MLB is back in London for the third time this summer when the Philadelphia Phillies take on the New York Mets.

The London Stadium will transform from a football field to a baseball field for the June 8th and 9th spectacle.

Fans attending games can indulge in some extravagant stadium menu items, like boomstick nachos (pictured) and a 2-foot boomstick hot dog.

The New York Yankees won both games in 2019 against the rival Boston Red Sox.

And the Chicago Cubs split their series with the St Louis Cardinals when the teams meet in 2023.

Speaking last week, Marsh said: “I really just think about the camaraderie of the team, the unity we have, the love and the passion we have for each other to play and win for each other.

“And we put incredible athletes on the field – the best of the best.

“So if we just keep our heads down, play our game bat by bat and pitch by pitch, we’ll be right where we want to be.”

Marsh is also happy that the team doesn’t have a facial hair policy, given his striking look.

“Now it’s part of the brand,” he said. “It never irritates me, it never bothers me as much as it seems.

“If I cut it, it’s like cutting my arm off. So I can’t do that.

“I was a really late bloomer growing up and all my friends had facial hair.

“I told myself that once I got it, I’m going to let it last as long as I can.

“I’m grateful the Phillies let me keep him because it would have been painful for me to cut him.”

The New York Mets will face the Philadelphia Phillies in the MLB World Tour: London Series 2024 on June 8-9 at London Stadium. Tickets are now available at
