BRANDON Marsh has accepted he will have to take a backseat to his younger sister when he travels to London.
The Major League Baseball star will be part of the Philadelphia Phillies team that will face the New York Mets in the United Kingdom.
Marsh, 26, and his Phillies teammates will cross the Atlantic for games on June 8 and 9.
But he will do it without his mother, who is in America.
Brandon’s younger sister, Erin, 24, is a track and field star who once attended Duke University.
His best result was winning gold in the heptathlon at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, last year.
“My mother is with my sister,” Marsh explained to select UK media.
“She is running and had priority that weekend. She is an incredible guy.
“We definitely compete with each other.
“She would always show up to our football practices and run with me and my teammates – and she would blow the dust off us.
“It was so degrading. I thought ‘my little sister comes and beats me and all my teammates?’
“She definitely pushed me to grow and we still push each other, just in different ways.”
Marsh helped the Phillies to MLB’s best start to a season through 50 games.
Philadelphia reached that mark with 36 wins and 14 losses – the best in the league since Seattle’s 38-12 in 2001.
The Phillies won three of the four games they played against the New York Mets in May.
They will face their rivals in a different setting, in front of 60,000 British fans at the London Stadium on the weekend of June 8th and 9th.
“We’re all excited about it,” Marsh said.
Home runs and boomsticks

MLB is back in London for the third time this summer when the Philadelphia Phillies take on the New York Mets.
The London Stadium will transform from a football field to a baseball field for the June 8th and 9th spectacle.
Fans attending games can indulge in some extravagant stadium menu items, like boomstick nachos (pictured) and a 2-foot boomstick hot dog.
The New York Yankees won both games in 2019 against the rival Boston Red Sox.
And the Chicago Cubs split their series with the St Louis Cardinals when the teams meet in 2023.
“I think we have a day and a half to go out and visit everything.
“It will be a great change of scenery and a fun change.
“I don’t have anything specific because I’m not really familiar with anything in London, to be honest.
“I’m interested in seeing the snacks, food and sights, but nothing too special.”

Marsh added: “We’re going to try to make it feel as routine as possible.
“It will definitely be different, but there aren’t many downsides to going to London to play.
“This will only grow the game of baseball, so everyone wins.”
The New York Mets will face the Philadelphia Phillies in the MLB World Tour: London Series 2024 on June 8-9 at London Stadium. Tickets are now available at
