The Miami Marlins have cut ties with veteran outfielder Avisail Garcia.
Garcia signed with the Marlins in 2022, but disappointed with his short tenure with the club.

Garcia signed a four-year, $53 million contract with the Marlins after an impressive year with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2021.
That year, he hit .262 with 29 home runs and 86 RBI.
The Marlins rewarded him with a big free agency contract, but he never lived up to their expectations in Miami.
In three years with the Marlins, Garcia played in just 153 games, less than one season.
He only managed to hit .217 with 13 home runs and 49 RBI in his three years.
After Garcia’s most recent injury, the Marlins decided it was time to move on.
“Ever since I’ve been here, Avi has been really good to me,” Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said.
“A good teammate. Unfortunately, he had a lot of injuries. He was on the IL more than he played.”
Garcia still owes a big chunk of change from the Marlins upon his departure.
The Marlins must pay him $7.6 million for the rest of this season, $12 million for next season and $5 million to buy out his 2026 team option.
Roster rotation is starting early for the Marlins, who are expected to be big sellers at the MLB trade deadline.
They are 19 games under .500 with a 21-40 record and likely have no chance of getting back into contention.
The Marlins already sent their best hitter, Luis Arraez, to the San Diego Padres earlier this season.
Other big names are also expected to find their way onto the trading block.
Home runs and boomsticks
MLB is back in London for the third time this summer when the Philadelphia Phillies take on the New York Mets.

Josh Bell, who the Marlins traded for last season, is expected to be traded at the deadline.
Pitcher Jesus Luzardo is also expected to be sent to a new team soon.
It’s a shocking turn of events for the Marlins, who made the playoffs last season with an 84-78 record.
This season, they are on track to win just 55 games.
