FANS have been impressed by Japanese baseball star Chusei Mannami’s incredible throwing power after seeing videos of him in action.

The 24-year-old plays for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball Pacific League.

He has also represented his country Japan, including in the recent Asian Professional Baseball Championship.

And Yahoo sportswriter Kendall Baker shared a thread on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, showing highlights of Mannami’s incredible throws in the outfield.

“Cannon on the arm and hits the fingers,” wrote a fan on X.

“Coming from a cricket-playing country, I normally yawn at baseball videos of accurate pitches or big hits, but in this case I go with the crowd and say proper arm, that. Wow,” said another fan.

“That first move is the best I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen them all: Bo, Clemente, Ichiro, Valentine, Barfield and others,” said a third fan.

“That arm. Holy hell. Hitting is probably the only thing keeping him out of the big leagues,” said a fourth fan.

“What a throw, not just for strength but for accuracy!” a fifth fan commented.

Baker himself comments in the thread how stunned he is by pitches.

“My fascination with this guy is that practically no one outside of Japan knows who he is!” he said.

One clip shows Mannami throwing the ball near the back of the outfield toward home plate to get an out.

Baseball fans can indulge in 2-foot, 2,000-calorie fish and chips, samosas or hot dogs — but not in America

Baker points out that he’s not the best regular hitter, but that arm could certainly still attract interest from MLB teams.

Minnami has been with Hokkaido since 2019. He became an NPB All-Star in 2023.

Roberto Clemente is often considered the best outfielder in MLB history.

Clemente played his entire career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, from 1955 to 1972.

Five Major MLB Rule Changes in 2024

1. The pitch clock is reduced from 20 to 18 seconds with runners on base. It will remain at 15 seconds with the bases empty.

2. When a pitching change is made, the inning clock will reset to 2:00 instead of 2:15 as it did last year.

3. Teams will only be able to visit four mounds per game in 2024, compared to five last season.

4. Fielders and fielders who block bases will be cited for obstruction by the umpires.

5. The runners’ lane from home plate to first base has been widened to include the dirt between the grass and the white line.

He won the World Series twice with the Pirates, in 1960 and 1971.

Clemente produced some breathtaking shows in the 1971 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Bo Jackson is remembered as another great pitcher.

He became an All-Star in both the MLB and NFL, a unique achievement in US sports.

In major league baseball, he played for the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox and California Angels in the 1980s and 1990s.

He also played for the Los Angles Raiders in the NFL.
