A batboy for the LOS Angeles Dodgers has gone viral after making a frankly incredible catch.

The clip was captured during the Dodgers’ 4-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday.

During the game, a foul ball advanced toward the Dodgers’ dugout at Guaranteed Rate Field.

He flew directly into the face of three-time All-Star pitcher Shohei Ohtani, at which point the batboy standing next to him sprang into action.

With the ball just inches away from Ohtani, number 94 was able to get both hands behind the ball, stopping it as Ohtani jumped back.

The cooly batboy handed the ball to a fan before returning to chewing gum and watching the game.

All the while, expressions of shock could be seen from those surrounding the show’s star.

“Give that kid a raise. He just saved Shohei Ohtani’s life,” the Fox MLB analyst tweeted Ben Verlander.

X fans also praised the batboy, with one commenting: “He just caught a rocket with his bare hands.”

“Well, if the Dodgers win it all, that kid deserves a ring,” proposed a second.

As another added: “He acted like a boss. He knew exactly what he had just done.”

Ohtani gave the Dodgers an early lead with a 437-foot home run in the top of the first inning.

This lead was later extended with runs by Ohtani, Enrique Hernandez and Austin Barnes in the top of the third.

This completed L.A.’s victory over Chicago and marked its fourth straight win heading into Friday’s series opener at San Francisco Giants.

After the victory, Ohtani praised pitcher Gavin Stone’s performance, which he labeled “spectacular”.

“By the time you notice an entrance, it’s over. And he repeated it all night.”

As for Ohtani, he is currently second in the MLB in runs (65), third in homers (25) and tops in batting average (.322).

But while he may be one of the league’s elite hitters this season, whether or not he will suit up for the Home Run Derby remains to be seen.

“It’s something I need to talk to a lot of people about and make a decision about,” Ohtani explained.

Meanwhile, manager Dave Roberts remained divided on the potential for Ohtani to appear in the Derby.

“On the one hand, for him to be in the Home Run Derby, it’s great for baseball, clearly,” he admitted, via ESPN.

“The other side, on the Dodgers manager’s side, you’re trying to be more cautious and appreciative of the fact that there’s a lot more swings, a lot more intensity, you know, going through the rehab process with the elbow. .”

Ohtani is currently continuing his long recovery from elbow surgery he underwent in September 2023.

“I never want to be the guy who says you can’t do it, because I wouldn’t want someone to tell me I couldn’t do it,” Roberts added.

“But surgery adds a different component.”
