A woman took issue with ESPN’s network showing herself and a friend eating ice cream during the College World Series.
The sequence went viral and led to fans comparing the fan to the now-notorious ‘Hawk Tuah’ meme.

During the Men’s College World Series championship Game between Texas A&M and Tennessee, ESPN focused on two women eating ice cream in the stands.
The camera show had commentator Karl Raven say, “You need to catch it before it melts and becomes liquid,” and then noted that it was 93 degrees in Omaha, Nebraska.
A TikTok user named Annie posted a long video on social media platform and put ESPN in the spotlight for showing her and her friend eating ice cream, leading to out-of-the-ordinary comments.
“It was a 20-second segment of just eating ice cream or licking our ice cream,” she said.
“20 seconds! Dedicated, with commentary, to just us eating our ice cream.
“We all knew, we all knew which direction that video was going to go and lo and behold, the TikTok goosebumps took over because we woke up being compared to Hawk Tuah Girl, who has no shade to her.
“Girl, do whatever.”
The woman referenced Hailey Welch, who gained popularity in a street interview when she pretended to spit with a noise spelled “hawk tuah” after being asked about “a move in bed that always drives a man crazy.”
The TikTok user continued, describing the responses to the ice cream video as “absolutely disgusting”, adding that the comments were coming from men with families in their profile photos.
“It’s clear that women are not welcome in the world of sports,” said Annie.
“We just wanted to enjoy a baseball game.
“And it was 100 degrees, so God forbid we eat ice cream… It’s like we can’t sit down and eat our food in peace.”
The woman then displayed several comments on the video.
Among the comments, it reads: “That’s falcon-ona-a and falcon-two-a.”

Annie also shared that she doesn’t feel the need to go to a baseball game after her TV appearance.
“We all just want to enjoy a baseball game,” she said.
“And it was 100 degrees, so God forbid we eat ice cream.
“It’s like we can’t sit down and eat in peace.”
After stating that she felt vulnerable eating a hot dog before eating ice cream, Annie said that ESPN tends to show women at sporting events.
“Nah, ESPN needs to be called out because we know exactly why they did this,” she said.
“What’s funnier than a woman licking an ice cream cone or eating a hot dog or something that might be overly sexualized?
“But ESPN can keep it pretty vague and the ambiguity is what protects them.”
Annie ended her five-minute speech believing that the ESPN broadcast should have shown them at other points in the game, suggesting that the network should just focus on the competition.
“We cannot eat in peace. … To say that I’m making too much of this and that there are more important things to focus on, I agree.
“Namely, the national championship game we came to watch.
“So don’t say we do it for ourselves when you guys do it for us anyway.
“Be better at your job ESPN.”
