PHILADELPHIA star Bryce Harper is sweating over the results of a hamstring exam after limping out of Thursday’s game with the Miami Marlins.
The 31-year-old slugger was injured in the ninth inning of MLB’s 7-4 loss at Citizens Bank Park.
Harper fell to the ground after feeling his left hamstring tighten on the final play of the game.
The first baseman immediately went down the tunnel and did not wait for the result of a review against a game-ending groundout.
“It hurts,” Harper told reporters after the loss, via ESPN.
“I felt my hammy a little [on the play].
“We’ll get a picture tomorrow just to see what it looks like and how I feel and go from there.
“If I had anything to go back on, I would let you know,
“But I’ve never felt anything like this before.”
The Phillies are already struggling with a crowded injury room.
Shortstop Trea Turner remains sidelined for six weeks, while catcher JT Realmuto is on the injured list.
“You can’t have a season without bad luck,” sighed a Phillies fan on X.
“Just pray he’s okay,” said another.
“Bottom cramps get easier as we get older… I hope he pushed a little too hard and got momentary cramps!” commented a third.
“They are about to be without Bryce, Schwarber and Realmuto for several weeks. Thank God they built an 8 game lead”, choked a fourth.
Kyle Schwarber also suffered an injury in last night’s game, feeling tightness in his groin after making a throw.
“I reached down to pick up the ball with my bare hand and kind of planted it for the throw and felt it grab,” Schwarber said.

“At first I thought it was just a cramp and finished the shift. But as I ran [between innings] I could still feel it, so I talked to the trainer and he didn’t like the location of the place.
“So he wanted to get me out of there.”
Thursday’s loss drops the Phillies to 53-28 on the MLB season.
They are currently top of the NL East, 8 games ahead of the Atlanta Braves.
Game 2 of the series begins on Friday at 6:20 pm ET.
