Trout suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 30.

He chose to undergo surgery days later rather than address the issue and wait for the off-season.

The 32-year-old was enjoying a strong season at the plate when the injury struck after hitting 10 home runs in 109 at-bats.

Trout now plans to return later this month after resuming light baseball activities.

“I feel really good about speeding things up,” Trout said, via MLB. with.

“I’m happy where I am right now. This makes me feel relieved.

“I’m not putting an exact timeline on it. But as soon as I can get all the tests done and run and hit and pitch, I’ll be there.”

The trout’s next step is to hit the cages again and run across the field.

“He’s feeling a lot better,” Angels manager Ron Washington added.

“Your legs look strong. He has a normal gait now.

“So it’s just a matter of when we’re going to bring him here and let him start getting his ass kicked.”

Trout’s injury prevented him from extending an impressive All-Star run.

The slugger was an 11-time All-Star and was named a starter for 10 consecutive seasons.

“It’s disappointing,” Trout said, adding, “It’s out of my control.

“I’m looking forward to coming back and finishing the season strong.”

Without Trout, the Angels bounced back after a poor start to the season.

They have a regular season record of 36-47 and recently went on a six-game winning streak at the end of June.

“I’m excited to get there, for sure,” Trout said.

“It’s fun to watch. It’s all happening together with the younger guys. It’s good to see.”

The Angels return to action on Tuesday when they face the Oakland Athletics (30-56).
