Padres players interfere to get unruly fans back into the stadium while the MLB announcer yells ‘what’s that clown doing?’

SAN Diego Padres players demanded that a fan be allowed back to his seat despite him diving dangerously to try to catch a foul ball.

The unlikely moment of drama occurred in the top of the eighth inning when Padres slugger Jurickson Profar was fouled on a pitch by Texas Rangers pitcher Dane Dunning.

The ball fell into the net behind the Padres dugout. But this is far from the end of the story.

A Rangers fan with a drink in hand dove into the net to chase the ball.

It bounced off the protective net and the drink flew out.

The fans sitting around seemed more amused by the attitude.

But those sentiments were not shared by those watching from the booth.

“Oh! That fan. What is he doing?” said Padres announcer Mark Grant.

“What is that clown doing? Yes, it’s time for Cha Cha to go.

“Let’s take a look at this. This guy is on the bench, then he loses, he eats the big tuna and then he loses the 24-ounce one.”

“And he will leave,” said Grant’s boothmate, Don Orsillo, as a member of stadium security escorted the fan away.

Those watching in the stands, along with viewers at home, would have assumed that was the end of the incident.

However, a few pitches later, cameras caught several Padres players gesturing to safety.

They were clearly asking for fans to come back and watch.

And this seemed to help the fan, as he was seen returning to his seat.

The rest of the game concluded relatively benignly.

The Padres picked up a 6-4 victory over the Rangers.

San Diego’s win moved them to 47-43 heading into the 2024 MLB season.

David Peralta hit his first home run of the season to help the Padres on their way.

“Big relief,” said Peralta, 36, after the game

“It’s just this moment, working so hard every day to help the team do something.

“And finally, I did something good for the team.”
