MLB fans loved Cleveland Guardians announcer Matt Underwood’s brutally honest critique of Javier Baez.
The Detroit Tigers shortstop was hit by a pitch from Nick Sandlin and began walking toward the mound.
“Javier Báez. He was hit. I’ll tell you what: Sandlin has been everywhere,” Underwood said.
“Baez singing. Look Javy, you’re well under .200.
“Nobody’s hitting you on purpose. It wasn’t even a fastball. It was a breaking ball.”
“Well, he hung up the last one,” added Guardians color analyst Rick Manning.
“This one runs away from him. There’s no way he’s trying to hit you.”
“Great facts haha. Be thankful you didn’t do that,” one fan commented on a clip of the incident.
“Give that announcer a raise,” added another.
“LMAOOO why do they have to dirty my face like that,” posted a third.
Baez sports a .185 batting average this season — the worst of his career.
The game was tied 7-7 with two outs and no one on base, making it unlikely that Sandlin was targeting Baez.
The Sandlin Guardians ended up securing a 9-8 victory to move to 57-33.
The Tigers fell to a 43-49 record.
