The Texas Rangers are making better use of their old stadium during MLB All-Star Week.

The Rangers played their last game at Choctaw Stadium, better known as The Ballpark at Arlington, in 2019.

It has since been reconfigured, primarily for football, with the UFL’s Dallas Renegades and local high school teams playing there.

This week, it was baseball season again, with the stadium being part of the All-Star Village.

The game was played at Globe Life Field on Tuesday and, as always, there is a lot surrounding it.

The Village includes a soccer field situated near where the infield once stood.

There is also a domed tent that protects the world’s largest baseball.

The former clubhouse is also being used to display memorabilia, including jerseys of former Rangers players.

As you can imagine, children were particularly well catered for, with a range of attractions on offer.

There was a Ferris wheel for one of them, which was being used a lot.

There were plenty of virtual reality games to play, which delighted younger generations.

And the parents weren’t forgotten either, especially when there were so many MLB legends walking around to greet fans and sign autographs.

Fans have been reacting to Village on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

“Lots of memories from that place,” said one fan.

“The Village looks fun, especially for kids,” said another fan.

“It’s great to see the stadium being used for this,” wrote a third fan.

Choctaw was home to the Rangers for a quarter century, between 1994 and 2019.

It hosted the All-Star Game almost three decades ago, in 1995.

It also hosted a number of other major events, including music concerts.

Paul McCartney and Billy Joel are among the stars who have performed there.

One of the disadvantages of the stadium, in relation to the new home, was the lack of a retractable roof.

Games were often played in the oppressive Texas summer heat, which could often take its toll on the players.
