BALTIMORE Orioles rookie star Jackson Holliday appears destined to replicate and even surpass his father’s legendary MLB career.

The 20-year-old 2022 top MLB pick is the son of retired seven-time MLB All-Star Matt Holliday.

Jackson grew up while his father Matt played in the big leagues.

And it’s safe to say he prepared to play in the MLB at a young age.

At age 2, Jackson began hitting balls with a plastic bat and was already impressing his grandfather Tom.

“He was always getting something right,” Tom counted youSA today. “He had the best hand-eye coordination I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Meanwhile, Matt was playing his third MLB season in 2006.

This would be his first All-Star campaign of many, as the then-Colorado Rockies star batted .326 with 34 home runs and 114 RBIs.

In 2007, Matt won the batting title and received the National League Championship Series MVP award.

He would also win the 2011 World Series as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals.

During Matt’s career, Jackson attended club baseball and became a rising star on the Stillwater High School baseball team in Oklahoma.

In 2018, the veteran Holliday retired from baseball with over 300 career home runs and over 2,000 career hits.

Matt played in the MLB for 15 seasons and finished with seven All-Star appearances.

Fast forward to 2022, and his son Jackson has become the No. 1 selection in the MLB Draft.

Jackson signed an $8.1 million contract with the Orioles and has been in the minors ever since.

He was called up by the Orioles last week after a stunning loss to the Triple-A Norfolk Tides that saw him hit .333 with two home runs and nine RBIs in 10 games.

There have already been calls for Jackson to start the 2024 MLB season with the Orioles after an impressive spring training.

The 20-year-old has struggled since his call-up, posting a .045 batting average along with 12 strikeouts in seven games.

Still, the Orioles are 6-2 since Jackson’s promotion.

And it seems that the club will be patient with the young man.

Baltimore has regularly batted Jackson ninth as he tries to establish himself in the big leagues.
