TEAM USA star Steph Curry appears to have hurt France deeply with his heroics in the men’s basketball final.
The Golden State Warriors star powered the Americans to a 98-87 victory over the host nation on Saturday, prompting the country’s McDonald’s to make a threat.
Curry, 36, finished the gold medal match with 24 points, one rebound, five assists and two steals.
Most notably, he hit four 3s in the final three minutes to repel the French’s late comeback attempt.
After the final, McDonald’s in France threatened to remove curry sauce from the menu.
“For obvious reasons, we are considering removing this sauce,” the company said. posted on Instagram alongside an image of a classic container of curry sauce.
In the caption, French McDonald’s said the ban could last “at least four years”.
The joke amused fans of the US team.
“Night, night, curry sauce,” wrote one,
“They come in packs of 3,” added another.
“Now they know what he’s been doing all these years for the NBA,” said a third.
“Hahahhahahah,” one wrote, adding four laughing emojis.
Curry left a message for the Parisian fans by destroying France’s hopes of a comeback at the end of the fourth quarter.
After knocking down the second of his last four 3s, he turned to the stands and yelled, “Don’t worry about me!”
The Warriors ace stepped up when Team USA needed him most in Paris, thriving in the last two games after overcoming an early tournament shooting slump.
Before the clash with France, Curry scored 36 points in a tough semi-final clash against Serbia.
