The 2024-25 NBA season is set to kick off with a blockbuster opening night.
Both the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers will be on the court when the campaign begins on Tuesday, October 22nd.
The Celtics will host the New York Knicks after receiving their championship rings and sending Banner 18 into the rafters at TD Garden, NBA insider Shams Charania said on Monday’s The Pat McAfee Show.
LeBron James’ Lakers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena, The Athletic writer revealed.
All four NBA franchises will also be involved on Christmas Day, Charania reported last week.
On the East Coast, special festive programming includes the Knicks taking on the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden and the Celtics hosting the Philadelphia 76ers.
Western Conference action is expected to feature the Timberwolves taking on the Dallas Mavericks, the Lakers taking on the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns battling the Denver Nuggets.
NBA fans loved seeing the two important days on the calendar involve mouth-watering matchups.
“Ant and LeBron face off on opening night,” one posted on X, adding fire emojis.
“The NBA season can now start, thank you!” another added.
“Without a doubt, these are two big games for NBA opening night,” said a third.
On both days, James, 39, will reunite with Team USA co-stars – Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and Golden State’s Steph Curry – with whom he won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
LeBron and Steph, 36, played a crucial role in the triumph.
The Lakers forward left fingerprints all over the court during the tournament, averaging 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists.
The four-time NBA champion won the Olympic MVP award for his efforts.
Meanwhile, Curry has carried the Americans on the offensive end the last two games, bouncing back from an earlier shooting slump.

In the gold medal match with France, the Warriors point guard knocked down four 3s in the final three minutes of the game to secure the victory.
Curry and James also loved playing with each other.
“You’re just in awe. It’s incredible,” LeBron said of their bond after winning the gold medal.
“I’ve seen it before on the opposite side.
“But to have him on your side, you just try to stop and find other ways on the other side, but you keep finding him.
“Keep giving him the ball.”
