NBA fans are in shock after referees confirmed multiple missed calls late in the Sixers-Knicks playoff game.
The report revealed three fouls on the Knicks that could have affected the outcome of the Knicks’ last-minute victory over the Sixers.
According to the last two minutes report, Tyrese Maxey was fouled twice by Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart after receiving the ball.
The report also found that the Sixers should have received a timeout during the game’s hectic final seconds before the Knicks’ game-winning basket.
Sixers star Joel Embiid was furious with the officiating after the game and criticized the league for the mistakes before they were confirmed.
“[Maxey] did his job,” Embiid said.
“That’s in the league. That’s in the NBA. That’s in the damn refs. I hate putting the game on them.
“But I’m sure the two-minute report will come out and we’ll see what happened.
“But like I said, this is unacceptable. This is not up to him. This is not up to any of us. We fought for 47 minutes and 20 seconds. For this to happen… this is not right.”
NBA fans were up in arms after the report was released and called for the outcome of the playoff game to be changed.
“Repeat the last 30 seconds,” said one fan.
“It looks like the refs bet money on the Knicks,” said another fan.
“Too many mistakes on both sides…that officiating crew shouldn’t be able to officiate another playoff game,” said a third fan.
“I liked it. The referees made mistakes, the NBA owned it. Now let’s end the video and live with the mistakes,” said a fourth fan.
Even Knicks superfan Stephen A. Smith admitted to thinking the Sixers were “robbed” by the referees late in the game.
“I think the Sixers got robbed and I’m a Knicks fan,” Stephen A. said.
Stephen A. said he saw Maxey get “two or three slaps” and that he was “blatantly robbed in the corner.”
There will likely be a greater emphasis on officiating as the series heads to Philadelphia with the Knicks holding a 2-0 lead.
