CAITLIN Clark will have to wait until the start of the WNBA season to see if she will spend the summer in Paris.

The 22-year-old basketball phenom could be one of the biggest stars of this summer’s Olympics if she is selected for the U.S. women’s national team.

USA Basketball has already announced a star-studded men’s roster, including LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

But the women’s team has not yet been announced and chief executive Jim Tooley revealed the deadline.

“We will look to select a team in June,” he told The Sun.

“The committee meets regularly to assess where we stand with the team.

“We have had several training camps over the years to try to identify and narrow down our group.

“But we’re looking at June before we make an announcement, that’s my guess.

“I don’t want to say one way or the other because we don’t really want to identify, we want to see what happens in the next few weeks.”

This means the WNBA season will likely begin before the U.S. roster is announced.

The new campaign begins May 14, giving people like Clark the opportunity to get the committee’s attention.

This year’s WNBA will take a month-long break for the Olympics, which begin in Paris on July 26.

The US women will face Germany at London’s O2 Arena on July 23 to complete their preparations.

And Tooley wants to help women’s basketball have a global boom like it did in the United States this year.

“London will have huge warm-up games – one last game for the women, two last games for the men.

“Actually, we are just adjusting things before we get to France and the competition starts on July 26th.

“Women’s basketball has been trending upward in recent years in the United States – we hope this catches on worldwide.

“Bringing our women’s team to play Germany at The O2 on July 23rd is a kind of extension of that excitement.

“We’re excited to be there and really looking forward to growing the game.

“We are very excited about the men’s team we have announced.

“We also have our 3×3 teams – so we are excited to have the chance to compete for four medals in Paris.”
