WNBA star Angel Reese enlisted NBA legend Michael Jordan to watch a game.
Rookie Reese, who was drafted seventh overall by the Chicago Sky in last month’s WNBA Draft, caught the Bulls legend’s attention during a recent TV interview.
“I want Michael Jordan to go to a game,” she told the Chicago station WGN9.
“I’m telling you right now, I want Michael Jordan to come to a game.
“I’ve never met him. That’s the only person I really want to go to a game.”
The third overall draft pick by the Bulls in 1984, Jordan spent 13 seasons in the Windy City, winning six NBA titles and being named league MVP five times.
Whether or not Jordan makes it to Wintrust Arena this season to watch Reese and Co., she still hopes to see plenty of other famous faces in attendance.
“Everyone will be on the court,” she told reporters.
“Celebrities will be on the court, just know. Who will be on the court?
“I was at the Met Gala and Usher was going to a game in Las Vegas, and Cardi B…
“I know some people you might think I don’t know.”
One of those celebrities could end up being Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
Selected first overall out of USC last month, the former Heisman Trophy winner and Reese have already established a friendship.
In fact, Williams and Bears teammates Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen sat courtside during Reese’s 101-53 preseason win on May 7.
Recently, Reese said she and Williams discussed their mutual goal of doing “great things” while in Chicago.
“It’s great to be able to bring that winning culture back to Chicago in all sports, not just football and baseball, but all sports, so to be able to have a city that is winning and everyone loves you from all sides,” she said , according to NBC Sports Chicago.
“Being able to come together for the community for the right thing is something I’ve always emphasized.”
In the Sky’s two preseason games, Reece totaled 26 points, 14 rebounds and two assists.
Her most recent game, against New York, came the day after she stunned at the Met Gala.
On the same day she turned 22, Reese dazzled in a 16Arlington turquoise dress by Marco Capaldo.
Her floor-length dress included a deep V-neckline lined with sequins, a feather-lined skirt, and a floor-length sheer patterned fabric.
How the WNBA works
The 2024 WNBA season features 12 teams, with the regular season running from May 14 to September 9.
Each team plays 40 regular season games – four against five teams from the same conference and two teams from the other conference, and three games against the remaining four teams.
The top eight teams in the league standings qualify for the playoffs – regardless of which conference they are in.
The playoffs will use a best-of-three format in the first round, while the WNBA semifinals and finals will be best-of-five.
This season also includes a month-long break for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Las Vegas Aces are defending back-to-back WNBA champions.
Reece’s look, which was styled by Naomi Elizée, was finished off with a pair of custom ice blue Stuart Weitzman heels, according to Maria Clara.
As for their WNBA career, it will begin in earnest on Wednesday, May 15th when they head to Texas for their first regular season game against the Dallas Wings.
Reese will have to wait another 10 days for his first opportunity to play a regular season game at home when he faces the Connecticut Sun.
