NBA fans were perplexed by the quick turn of events in the Celtics-Cavaliers playoff series.

After the first game, it wouldn’t be wrong to think that the Celtics would put an end to the Cavaliers quickly, but everything changed on Thursday night.

The Celtics won the series game in dominant fashion, defeating the Cavs 120-95.

The impressive performance felt like a statement from the Celtics, showing that they are the powerhouse of the Eastern Conference.

However, the Cavs came back and punched them in the mouth in game two, winning in equally dominant fashion 118-94.

Boston’s shooting looked shaky in the loss, draining just 41.3 percent of its shots from the field compared to Cleveland’s 54.7 percent.

Donovan Mitchell led the scoring with 29 points for the Cavs, with Evan Mobley and Caris LeVert adding 21 each.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 25 points, but had a bad shooting night, shooting 7 of 17 from the field.

Jaylen Brown was also quieter than usual, adding just 19 points, while Payton Pritchard added 13.

The three-point shot was really what killed the Celtics on Thursday night, as they live and die by it.

Al Horford was the only Celtic to make more than two threes that night, as the team shot 8 of 35 from deep.

In contrast, the Cavs shot 13 of 28 from beyond the arc, a solid 46.4 percent measure from three.

Although the three-point shot was a problem, the Celtics also died in the game against the Cavs.

With big man Kristaps Porzingis still sidelined with a calf injury, the Cavs were able to exploit the Celtics’ size.

The Cavs scored 60 points in the paint, compared to the Celtics’ 44.

NBA fans were confused by the Cavaliers’ failed performance and insisted the game was rigged based on the Celtics’ shooting strength.

“There are so many lopsided games in the @NBA… Sometimes I feel like it’s rigged,” one fan wrote on X.

NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs

First round

Boston Celtics (1) 4-1 Miami Heat (8)
Cleveland Cavaliers (4) 4-3 Orlando Magic (5)
Milwaukee Bucks (3) 2-4 Indiana Pacers (6)
New York Knicks (2) 4-2 Philadelphia 76ers (7)

Conference Semifinals

“Boston doesn’t even try to play, absolutely rigged game!” another fan said.

“Celtics losing on purpose bro to the NBA is so infuriating and fraudulent I’m about to scream,” said a third fan.

The series now heads to Cleveland, where the Cavs will have home court advantage with the series tied at 1-1.

It’s possible that Boston will see Porzingis return later in this series, so Cleveland will look to capitalize on the amount of time they won’t have to play against them.

Game three tips at 8:30 pm ET on Saturday.
