BRONNY James insists playing with his dad is not a priority.

The 19-year-old prospect was medically cleared to participate in June’s NBA Draft after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Much of the conversation revolved around the great LeBron James’ desire to play with his son before he retires.

But Bronny insists his focus is on establishing himself in the NBA and not worrying about the family connection.

“I don’t think when I get there – I don’t think it would just be me and my dad,” HIt is he told ESPN.

“I would be happy to make the league rather than think about playing with my dad.

“That’s not my mindset right now. I’m just trying to work and see where it takes me.”

After LeBron’s Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski suggested his focus had shifted from bonding with his son.

According to the source, Bronny finding a team where he can contribute and setting himself up for success is now the goal.

And he suggested that LeBron, 39, wouldn’t make the dream a deciding factor when considering his own future.

“I think that’s the priority for them as a family, what’s best for Bronny James,” Wojnarowski said.

“If it ends [LeBron and Bronny] together, then that would be great.

“But I don’t get the feeling that plays any role in LeBron James’ decision next season.”

It is believed that LeBron will stay in Los Angeles next season and it is unlikely that Bronny will be drafted by the Lakers.

He holds the 17th pick in the draft that reports suggest will be traded.

The Lakers also have pick 55, but Bronny’s name will likely have been called by then.

He may have improved his stock with performances in individual training sessions, but he wasn’t as impressive in friendly games.

“He made that beautiful play for a floater,” a scout told ESPN’s Jamal Collier. “But he needed to do something more to stand out.”

The USC guard is trying to do just that without referencing his father.

“Bronny was just a nickname I got when I was younger,” he told ESPN.

“But everything that follows my father, people just try to link me to that and all the greatness he achieved.

“I haven’t done anything yet, so I feel like there needs to be a divide between Bronny and LeBron.

“Everyone has heard this before. I just want people to know that my name is Bronny James and not just be identified as LeBron James’ son. I think that would be great.”
