MIAMI Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s ex-wife Nikki is firing back at the haters following their divorce.
In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Nikki called out internet trolls for claiming she posted “thirst traps.”
“Stop the ‘thirst trap’ narrative, guys, I’m not here for that,” Nikki said.
“I’m 37 years old and I’ve had THREE babies. I was a dancer my whole life, I became a professional, I taught dance until I had those children.
“And… if you *really* want to see me in a supposed ‘thirst trap,’ take a look at the posters of the Miami Heat dancers from 2005-2008 and tell me if the trap was, um… Trappin. I have a sneaky suspicion that it did.”
Nikki has fought back against haters in the past, previously calling out fans who criticized her divorce.
“Lol. I’m going to address this comment NOT as it relates to my personal life choices, but as it relates to a general thought process that I believe a lot of people have and that a lot of people have harassed me with over the years,” wrote Nikki at the time.
“According to rude, ignorant and uninformed society in general, women cannot ‘win’.
“Women cannot be genuinely in love with someone successful. No, they are faking it and they are in it for the money.
“And if a woman chooses not to be with a successful partner, apparently she is an idiot.”
She later explained why she doesn’t ignore hateful comments in another post.
“IgNoRiNg it (harassment) for years has messed with my emotional health and people need to better understand how their words can affect others,” Nikki posted.
“Not just me. But people. In general. Be nicer.”
Spoelstra and Nikki divorced in November 2023 after seven years of marriage.
“We are both grateful for our relationship and remain fully committed to co-parenting our children and continuing to make them our shared priority,” they said in a joint statement.
Immediately after the divorce, Spoelstra signed an eight-year contract extension worth $120 million.
This signature contributed in part to some of the hate Nikki received on social media.
Spoelstra’s Heat reached the NBA Finals last season but faltered this year.
After reaching the playoffs via the Play-In tournament, they lost to the Celtics 4-1.
The Heat could also undergo a major roster rebuild this offseason with Jimmy Butler potentially on the move.
