STEPHEN A. Smith gave a huge vote of confidence to one of the NBA’s stars.
Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves will face the Denver Nuggets in a seven-game homestand, and Stephen A. thinks the Timberwolves have everything under control.
Stephen A. is so confident in the Timberwolves because they have Anthony Edwards on the roster, one of the most dominant forces in the league.
“This is the seventh game! This is the seventh game!” Stephen A. shouted.
“Most importantly, we have to remind our audience of this: When you don’t show up in game seven because you simply don’t have one, no one is holding that against you because the expectation wasn’t there.
“But when you’ve had that most of the time everywhere else, but then suddenly game seven comes along, that becomes your epitaph.”
Stephen A. continued his speech by comparing Edwards to some of the NBA’s greatest legends.
“We know Anthony Edwards is A1. He’s the Jordan of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’s the Kobe of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“We understand that Scotty Pippen wasn’t Jordan, but we need to remember that damn migraine, if it had appeared in the fifth game it wouldn’t have been as memorable.
“But because it was the seventh game, you religiously hold that against them.
“Like every game, game seven. Game seven is a different burden, it is a different obligation.
“And Anthony Edwards, when we talk about you as a star, my brother… you have to be the guy we saw.”
Fans were not thrilled with Stephen A’s GOAT comparisons and urged him to let Edwards play his own game.
“Wow, man, the gassing starts again. Why can’t you just let Ant be Ant,” said one fan.
“Can we stop using Michael Jordan’s name. Even stop Edward. Edward is great, leave Michael Jordan’s title out,” said another fan.
“Be quiet, sas. Sit back and watch,” said a third fan.
“Didn’t Ant himself say to stop comparing him to Jordan? Why do these guys keep doing this… let Ant be Ant,” said a fourth fan.
