The New York Knicks could be getting a much-needed lifeline heading into Game Seven against the Pacers.
After missing games three through six, OG Anunoby could return to the Knicks for a crucial game seven.
With the Knicks-Pacers series tied at 3-3, the Knicks need all the help they can get to reach the Eastern Conference Finals.
They are already without Mitchell Robinson and Bojan Bogdanovic for the remainder of the playoffs.
Things didn’t go well after Anunoby got injured. The Knicks held a 2-0 series lead in games played by Anunoby.
After he went down, the Knicks went 1-3 and gave the Pacers a chance to win the series.
Although Anunoby has been out since the second game, he was upgraded to questionable in the seventh game.
On the other hand, Josh Hart played in all six games of the series, but was downgraded to questionable in the seventh game.
He suffered an abdominal strain during the sixth game at Indiana and is in danger of missing the game.
Although two of the Knicks’ star players are in danger of missing the game, Jalen Brunson thinks they will step up to give the team a chance to win.
“I wasn’t necessarily worried or anything [about Hart]but I think you can just add it to the list,” Brunson said.
“There were a lot of things, obviously, [that] physically we didn’t go our way with our team this year.
“But I think our main focus is that whoever we have out there, regardless of what you’re dealing with or anything like that, if you’re there, you’re ready to go. That has been our mentality.
“I’d say he’s playing. It’s the seventh game.”
Isiah Hartenstein echoed the same sentiment as Brunson about Hart.
“He’ll do anything to play. If his leg isn’t falling off … he’ll probably play,” Hartenstein said.
After the Knicks’ loss on Friday, Stephen A. Smith appeared on TV and implored the stars to hold on in game seven.
“You’ve been waiting decades to get back to the Eastern Conference Finals,” Stephen A. said.
“I understand how you feel right now. You didn’t put yourself in this position. Too many injuries. But damn, you’ve reached this point.
“Do it! Let’s think about [the] Boston [Celtics] and what will happen after that.”
