CHICAGO Sky newcomer Angel Reese has joined the ownership group of professional women’s soccer team DC Power Football Club.
The Washington D.C.-based team is one of eight teams competing in the inaugural 2024-25 United Soccer League (USL) Super League season.

Power FC, formed in partnership with MLS side DC United, announced the news on Tuesday afternoon.
“Angel’s decision to be a founding investor alongside us in Power FC is groundbreaking,” DC United CEO and Co-Chairman Jason Levien said in a statement. an affirmation.

Former United defender and assistant coach Frederic Brillant has been appointed as Power FC’s first manager.
The Super League will officially launch in August.
Reese is off to a promising start in her WNBA debut season.
The former Louisiana State University star averaged 18.6 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 49.8% from the field in his first two games.
Chicago opened the campaign 1-1, facing the Dallas Stars in both matches.
Reese will soon face former college basketball rival Caitlin Clark when the Sky face the Indiana Fever on the road on June 2.
How the WNBA works
The 2024 WNBA season features 12 teams, with the regular season running from May 14 to September 9.
Each team plays 40 regular season games – four against five teams from the same conference and two teams from the other conference, and three games against the remaining four teams.
The top eight teams in the league standings qualify for the playoffs – regardless of which conference they are in.
The playoffs will use a best-of-three format in the first round, while the WNBA semifinals and finals will be best-of-five.
This season also includes a month-long break for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Las Vegas Aces are defending back-to-back WNBA champions.
ESPN is scheduled to broadcast the showdown between the two WNBA rookie stars.
Many thought Clark and Reese didn’t like each other after heated encounters during back-to-back NCAA Tournament games.
But the Sky star explained that they are just two very competitive athletes.
“I don’t think people realize it’s not personal,” Reese said in March.
“As soon as we get between the lines, if I see you walking down the street, it’s like, ‘Hey, girl, what’s up? Let’s go out.’
“I think people just look at it as if we hate each other. Caitlin Clark and I don’t hate each other.
“It’s just a super competitive game.”
