Tyrese Haliburton injury update as Indiana Pacers star limps out of Boston Celtics loss with hamstring issue

The Indiana Pacers are sweating over Tyrese Haliburton’s fitness.

The 24-year-old star limped out of the Pacers’ 126-110 loss to the Boston Celtics on Thursday night.

Boston took a 2-0 lead into the Eastern Conference Finals with the win.

Haliburton scored 10 points and dished out 8 assists before his night was cut short with 3:44 left in the third quarter.

Pacers coach Rick Carlisle admitted that Haliburton was “sore at halftime” before being forced to leave the game.

“He was working the whole break,” Carlisle said.

“He went out, tried and made every effort he could.

“I haven’t talked about it directly with him, so I can’t read minds, but it wasn’t going well.

“The trainers determined he should be taken back for treatment and so he was ruled out.”

Haliburton missed 10 games in January with a strained hamstring.

The 24-year-old “aggravated” the same injury, for ESPN.

He will undergo further testing on Friday, with his status unknown for the remainder of the seven-game series.

During Haliburton’s previous 10-game absence, the Pacers were 6-4.

“Ah yes, it’s over, playing with a hamstring injury is almost impossible, the Celtics win in 4,” sighed a fan on X.

“I was cooking so much that Hammy gave up,” said another.

“But this is real, I hope it’s not serious,” commented a third.

“Celtics get another shot smh,” said a fourth.

The Pacers have home-field advantage in Game 3 of the series in Indianapolis on Saturday night.

Trailing 2-0, a defeat would all but end their hopes of a first NBA Finals since 2000.

“This is a time for everyone to step up and take on a bigger role,” Pacers guard TJ McConnell told reporters.

“We do a good job when he’s out. It hurts when he goes down, but one of those things is the ‘next man up’ mentality.

“Obviously, we’ll see. We haven’t heard anything yet, but guys are going to have to step up and be ready.”
