Stephen A. started Friday’s show in good spirits as he looked forward to a sports-filled weekend.

Former NBA star Jay Williams joined Molly in New York, with Stephen A. and Kendrick Perkins in Los Angeles.

Smith – who prides herself on dressing well – often starts the show by criticizing her colleagues’ wardrobe choices.

On Friday he wore a cream blazer for the broadcast, paired with an unbuttoned black shirt.

But he was initially overshadowed by Williams, who caught Molly’s attention during the show’s introductions.

“Jay looks fantastic,” exclaimed the First Take host, “He looks like he has new money.”

“I want to look like this when I grow up,” said Stephen A. after seeing Williams’ elegant blue suit.

“The brother seems fine,” he added.

“We can’t always start every morning talking about the great Molly Qerim.

“We have to give love to other people.”

“Stephen A., I want to talk about basketball, but I have to say real quick – I’m impressed with your suit,” Molly replied, turning her attention to her co-star’s recent glow.

“And I’m impressed with the pocket square. I’m proud of you.

“You’re learning and I’m glad I helped you improve your game.”

Stephen A. recently opened up on a health kick that resulted in dramatic weight loss.

Before his fitness journey, Smith admitted things got “bad.”

‘You’re seeing this backwards’

MOLLY Qerim was forced to interrupt a Stephen A Smith rant on First Take and save her blushes.

Appearing virtually, Smith began berating Chris “Mad Dog” Russo for apparently sitting in his chair in the studio.

“Now I’m here in South Beach,” Smith said, “so I’m usually never grumpy.

“What the hell are these seating arrangements?

“Why aren’t you Tim Legler sitting in my chair? Why is that man, Mad Dog Russo, in my chair?!”

But Qerim intervened and said, “You’re seeing everything backwards.”

Smith realized his mistake and was left red in the face.

“The video is backwards,” replied a red-faced Smith, “They promised me they would fix it.”

“I weighed 200 pounds. I was always skinny. I was skin and bones and had a bulging belly. 200 pounds. Almost 30% body fat,” he said on his podcast.

“A cholesterol level above 300. And 0.1 point away from being a full-blown diabetic.”

Smith said that since starting his journey, he has dropped to 10% body fat.

The hard-working analyst admitted earlier this week that he needed a “break” after the NBA playoffs.

The 56-year-old appears on ABC’s NBA Countdown alongside First Take and has split his time between New York and Los Angeles.

During Thursday’s Celtics-Pacers broadcast, Smith admitted the travel was taking its toll.

“You’ve never heard me say what I’m about to say,” Stephen A. told the panel.

“I’m not rooting for any long series. I need some time off.

“It’s going to be a long series – but I’m not rooting for it.”

First Take airs every weekday on ESPN starting at 10am ET.
