MINNESOTA Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards caused sportscaster Kevin Harlan to go crazy on live television during Sunday’s NBA playoff game.
The sequence occurred in the third quarter of Game 3 between the Timberwolves and the home team Dallas Mavericks, who entered the contest with a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference finals.
Minnesota received possession with 6:26 left in the third quarter.
Point guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker passed the ball to Edwards near the three-point line.
Edwards, 22, then took three dribbles and launched himself into the air.
Edwards got past Mavericks center Daniel Gafford and posterized him with a dunk.
And Edwards wasn’t done when he completed his right-handed ax holding the edge briefly.
TNT announcer Harlan quickly gave an extraordinary reaction to the dunk.
“Ohhhh! What a play by Edwards!” Harlan shouted.
Harlan wasn’t the only one on the broadcast who was impressed by the dunk.
“Dunk of the Year… This is a spectacular play by Ant-Man,” said TNT commentator Reggie Miller.
Edwards’ monster jam was part of a run as he scored eight straight points as the Timberwolves tied Game 3 at 77.
But it wasn’t enough, as Dallas defeated Minnesota down the stretch and cruised to a 116-107 victory in Game 3.
The Mavericks are one win away from their first NBA Finals appearance since the 2011 title run.
Dallas stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving combined for 66 points.
Edwards finished with a team-high 26 points, but scored just four in the final period.
Timberwolves All-Star forward Karl Anthony-Towns struggled, scoring 14 points on 5-of-18 shooting.
Dallas finished the game on a 14-3 run to bring the Timberwolves closer to the sweep.
“I never think sky is falling,” Edwards said.
“I’m always positive. I’m always happy. I’ve been through the worst, so the sky You’re never falling in love with me.”
Game 4 between the Mavericks and Timberwolves will take place in Dallas on Tuesday at 8:30 pm ET.
