BRONNY James has reportedly decided to remain in the 2024 NBA Draft, forgoing college eligibility.
The former University of Southern California guard — and son of LeBron James — has also reportedly been very selective when it comes to accepting pre-draft workout invites from teams.
Bronny, 19, had until 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday to withdraw from the draft if he wanted to continue his college basketball career.
But just hours before the deadline, his agent, Rich Paul, said ESPN that the 6-foot-2 point guard would remain after a strong pre-draft process.
“Bronny [draft] the reach is broad,” Paul said.
“He is a very good prospect who has a lot of room to grow. Only one team is needed.
“I don’t care where this team is – it could be No. 1 or 58 – [but] I care about the plan, the development. The team strategy, the opportunity and the financial commitment.”
Paul also reiterated that Bronny would not sign a two-way contract with any NBA team.
And it appears there may be franchises he’s not interested in joining.
reportedly received invitations to workouts from more than 10 teams, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
But he is believed to have only said yes to a few, the Los Angeles Lakers – where his father has played since 2018 – and the Phoenix Suns, Charania added a few days later.
The Suns have the 22nd overall pick in this year’s draft.
Meanwhile, the Lakers will make their selections at positions 17 and 55.
James has said in the past that he would love to play with Bronny on the same team.
The 20-time All-Star walked back those comments after they thrust his son further into the spotlight.
But Paul recently said he didn’t care about the Lakers star’s comments.
