Aaron Gordon’s brother Drew ‘dies in Portland car crash’ aged 33 as tributes pour in for former NBA player’s brother

NBA star Aaron Gordon’s older brother reportedly died at age 33 in a car accident on Thursday.

Fans paid tribute to the late former NBA player Drew Gordon.

ESPN NBA Senior Writer Marc J. Spears reported Drew’s agent, Calvin Andrews, confirmed to the outlet that the 33-year-old died in a car accident in Portland, Oregon.

Drew played nine games for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-15 season and has since played professionally in the U.S. and abroad.

Fans gave their condolences to Aaron and Gordon family.

“This is horrible, ripped,” commented one fan.

“Rest in peace, Drew. Condolences to the Gordon family,” said another fan.

“Oh no… RIP Drew! This is so sad. Praying for the Gordon family!” a third fan added.

“Rest in peace. So sad. So young,” a fourth fan commented.

Drew was born five years before his brother Aaron.

The two went to the same school in San Jose.

During his high school days, Drew led his team to the West Catholic Athletic Championships over four years.

He began his college career at UCLA in 2008.

Two years later, Gordon was transferred to New Mexico.

The California native averaged 13.7 points, 11 rebounds and 1.2 assists during his senior campaign.

Gordon earned first-team All-MWC honors and won the MWC tournament MVP award that season.

After going undrafted in 2012, Drew joined the Dallas Mavericks summer league team.

He was dropped from the franchise and went on to play for several foreign teams, including Partizan Belgrade and Dinamo Sassari.

Gordon had summer league stints with two franchises before finally getting his big break with the 76ers.

He was called up by the Philadelphia team in 2014 and made one appearance.

However, Gordon was released by the team soon after.

In 2023, Drew announced his retirement from professional basketball.

His brother Aaron, who was picked fourth in the 2014 NBA Draft and won an NBA title with the Nuggets last season, has not yet commented on his brother’s death.
