The NBA is closing in on a massive $76 billion TV deal with ESPN, Amazon and NBC.
NBC appears to have won the broadcast rights battle with TNT for one of the game packages.
And that likely means the end of Inside the NBA starring Shaquille O’Neal, Carlos Barkley, Kenny Smith and host Ernie Johnson.
The iconic studio show has been on the air for over 30 years.
NBC must pay $2.5 billion a year to broadcast the league’s games, according to Wall Street Journal.
According to reports, around 100 games will be shown per season, half of which will be broadcast exclusively on Peacock.
With the addition of NBA basketball to its programming, the streaming platform could increase subscription fees, the WSJ has learned.
NBC is expected to air NBA games on Tuesdays and Sundays, when they will not conflict with Sunday Night Football.
