ESPN star Kendrick Perkins called NBA legend LeBron James sensitive for unfollowing him on social media.

Last week, the X NBA Alerts account revealed that LeBron had unfollowed a number of basketball stars on the platform formerly known as Twitter, including Perkins, Ben Simmons and Blake Griffin.

“Not everyone followed Jesus, I’ll be fine,” Perkins wrote in response to LeBron’s move.

And the former Boston Celtics star discussed the incident in detail on Monday’s First Take alongside Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe.

“Imagine unfollowing me on Twitter, but you still have to wake up and watch me on TV because I can’t go anywhere anytime soon. That’s No. 1,” Perkins said.

“No. 2, I think LeBron James has gotten sensitive over the last few weeks because I’ve been criticizing him or I need to talk about certain things that he might disagree with.

“…like Darvin Ham being fired or the Lakers coaching search or even having to address the Bronny James situation when it comes to dealing with the Draft.”

It appears that Perkins was particularly hurt that LeBron didn’t speak to him privately about any issues he may have had.

“Tell me someone other than Shannon who has been lobbying and defending LeBron James as if I were on the side of basketball,” he added.

“And the few times I disagree with you, you understand how you feel…”

“And you don’t pick up the phone and call me or text me.

“And you know the disappointing part of this is that I might get a text or a call from [LeBron’s agent] Rich Paul.

“Bron, I’ve known you since 1999, brother. We play AAU basketball together, we play against each other in AAU basketball.

“We played together in the McDonald’s All-American Game. We were in the same draft.

“Like, you have my phone number. If you had a problem with anything I said, we could have gotten on the phone and talked.”

Perkins then discussed how “weird” it was that an X account could automatically send an alert when an athlete like LeBron unfollowed someone else.

“You knew the world would eventually see that you unfollowed me because they have all these stalkers who have all these things on alert,” he said.

“We are living in strange times. Seriously, it’s not crazy that you can unfollow someone and send someone an alert to let the world know you unfollowed them.

“We are living in strange times at the moment.”

It’s unclear exactly why LeBron has issues with Perkins.

But last week, Perkins claimed the Los Angeles Lakers star inserted himself into the NBA Finals conversation with comments about former teammate Kyrie Irving.

“Here we go again,” Perkins said on ESPN.

“Bron paving the way for someone else’s moment… This isn’t about you! Your team is at home.

“This is about the Mavs and the Celtics, but you are so angry and disappointed that you are no longer Kyrie Irving’s running mate.

“Here we go again.”
