Porzingis returned to action in Game 1 after missing more than five weeks with a calf strain.

The pivot dropped 20 points in just 21 minutes, adding 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Porzingis suffered a new injury in the third quarter of the 105-98 Game 2 victory at TD Garden on Sunday.

He was diagnosed with a “torn medial retinaculum allowing dislocation of the posterior tibial tendon” in his left leg, for ESPN.

The Latvian’s status is now daily and he is officially listed as questionable for Game 3 on Wednesday night.

“It’s kind of a random situation,” Porzingis told reporters on Tuesday.

“I felt something and now I have to deal with it.

“Like we said, yes, it will be day to day, and I will see where I am tomorrow, and obviously I will do everything I can to be there tomorrow, and we will see. “

But Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla admitted the injury was “serious.”

“At the end of the day, the medical team is not going to put him in any bad situation,” Mazzulla said. NBATV.

“We made the decision to take it out of their hands.”

“It seems like they are being smart. There’s no need to rush it and risk making things worse,” said one X fan in response to the news.

“Celtics at 5 instead of 4 now,” joked another.

“The Celtics will still win the series easily. Very talented against the Mavs,” said a third.

“The poor guy finally had a good run in the playoffs and only managed to play a game and a half,” added a fourth.
