JAYLEN Brown emphatically silenced all doubters as he was crowned NBA Finals MVP.
The Boston Celtics star was too good for the Dallas Mavericks and helped his team win the series 4-1.
But Brown, 27, didn’t always get things his way and a resurfaced old tweet showed what he had to fight against.
In 2014, he tweeted about a comment from one of his teachers.
“My teacher said she will look for me at Cobb County Jail in 5 years.. Wow,” he posted.
Ten years later, Brown – who attended Joseph Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia – is at his basketball peak.
“You really don’t forget cases like this,” Brown told The Athletic in 2019. “You use it as fuel and keep going.”
Brown’s NBA career has been a rollercoaster.
Boston selected him third overall in the 2016 draft.
Celtics fans were seen reacting with dismay to the selection and a party full of season ticket holders were booed.
“The Celtics selected one potential bust after another in the 2016 NBA Draft,” wrote the Washington Post at the time.
Brown was benched by the Celtics during the 2018-19 season and fans mocked him for having no left hand.
And when he agreed a record £304m contract last year, more criticism rained down.
“It’s hard for me to believe that,” NBA legend Barry said of the five-year deal.
“His average in the playoffs for them is 18.5 points per game. I mean, 18.5 points per game.
“And he’s going to make $69 million in the final year of his contract.
“But 18.5 points per game – that’s nothing! Seriously.”

However, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd clearly knew what he was up against.
“Jaylen is their best player,” he said during the series.
“Just looking at what he does defensively. He got Luka [Doncic] full court.
“He got to the free throw line. He did everything, and that’s what your best player does.”
Kidd may have been trying to take down fellow Celtics star Jayson Tatum, but he was probably right.
