The former LSU star finished with 25 points and 16 rebounds, along with an assist.

Chicago has won back-to-back games for just the second time this year, having done so in the first two games of this season.

It also marked the Sky’s first win of the season against the Fever – who are led by first overall draft pick Caitlin Clark – in three tries.

After the game, Reese spoke with ESPN’s Holly Rowe about how she found the motivation to help the Sky come back from a 15-point deficit.

“I’m a dog, you can’t teach that,” she said.

“I’m going to go out and do whatever it takes to win every night. My teammates trust my energy.

“So being able to keep the energy going even if we’re down, even if we’re up, that’s what I do.”

Reese later noted that although he was “happy” they were able to get the win, “I need to get back to work and we need to get back to work for our next game.”

She also seemingly dismissed any suggestion of a “growing rivalry” between her and Clark.

“It’s just a competition,” Reese said.

“They still have us, they have an advantage over us, so I’m very happy for the team, I don’t want to do it for us.”

With her eighth consecutive double-double, Reese is just four behind Candace Parker, who holds the WNBA record, as per Atlético.

Reese’s performance caught the attention of many on X, formerly known as Twitter, where she was trending throughout the game.

This included one of Reese’s teammates, Brianna Turner.

“Angel Reese. 25 points, 16 rebounds, but most importantly, a win. Make sure the apology is as loud as the disrespect,” she tweeted.

In addition to Reese, point guard Chennedy Carter and center Kamilla Cardoso also shone on Sunday.

How the WNBA works

The 2024 WNBA season features 12 teams, with the regular season running from May 14 to September 9.

Each team plays 40 regular season games – four against five teams from the same conference and two teams from the other conference, and three games against the remaining four teams.

The top eight teams in the league standings qualify for the playoffs – regardless of which conference they are in.

The playoffs will use a best-of-three format in the first round, while the WNBA semifinals and finals will be best-of-five.

This season also includes a month-long break for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Las Vegas Aces are defending back-to-back WNBA champions.

Carter finished with 23 points, five assists and two rebounds, while Cardoso totaled 16 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

Guard Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever in scoring with 24 in addition to her two assists.

Clark has a team-high 13 assists to go along with 17 points and six rebounds.

Center Aliyah Boston also had a solid game with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

The Sky will return to action on Thursday when they host the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.

Indiana will also have to wait until Thursday to get back on the court when they head to the Seattle Storm.
