But Paul is expected to sign with the San Antonio Spurs on a one-year deal worth more than $11 million, by ESPN.

The 39-year-old made just 18 appearances in 58 games last season, averaging 9.2 points and 6.8 assists – both career lows.

It was the first time he came off the bench after starting more than 1,200 games before joining Golden State.

Paul will join Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio and reportedly believes he is too good to warm the bench.

“He is very excited and motivated by this opportunity to return to the starting role,” said Chris Haynes. said on NBA TV.

“He still believes he’s a starter. He still believes he can play at an elite level.

“And he’s excited about the chance to pair up with Wembanyama.

“You’re going to have a really inspired and motivated Chris Paul at this stage of his career.

“He wants to show and prove to people that he still has it.”

Paul is chasing an elusive first championship, but he joins a struggling Spurs franchise that went 28-60 last season.

Zaccharie Risacher marvels at ‘dream coming true’ before landing Hawks No. 1 pick on ‘special’ night of NBA Draft

He was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2005 and has since played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns and Warriors – earning $389 million.

Golden State could lose two guards next season with Klay Thompson, 34, an unrestricted free agent.

ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski said Thompson will have discussions with the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers.

Elsewhere, LeBron James opted out of his contract to pursue a new deal with the Lakers.

What does the new TV deal mean for the NBA?

By US Sun Assistant Sports Editor Damian Burchardt.

The new television rights deal promises to be a big win for NBA players.

The league is expected to more than double revenue from its media partners, pocketing around $6.9 billion per year, which will inevitably lead to a huge salary cap increase in 2025-26.

This will cause the value of players’ contracts to skyrocket.

Projected numbers suggest we could see the first $100 million per year deal being signed soon.

Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown is currently set to earn the highest single-season salary in NBA history, bringing in $65.1 million in 2028-29.

It seems like basketball fans would be on the losing side of the fight if the NBA and TNT actually split.

Inside the NBA is a unique sports entertainment program, as evidenced by ESPN’s continued failure to create its own version of the show in recent years.

The NBA won’t be the same without Kenny and Ernie trying to make sense of Shaq and Chuck’s endless fights every Tuesday night.

James’ agent, Rich Paul, explained that he is willing to do anything to help the team win.

“He’s prioritizing improving the squad,” Paul told ESPN.

“He has been adamant about making every effort to improve the squad.”

Kendrick Perkins believes LeBron’s motives are transparent.

“I’m willing to bet my left toe that LeBron James won’t take a pay cut for the future of the Lakers,” he said of the negotiations.

“That’s it for now. LeBron James wants to win now. LeBron James knows the pressure he’s under.

“It’s not because of the future of the Lakers, it’s because LeBron wants another chance.

“To be honest with you, they weren’t that far off last year when you think about it.”
