JAYSON Tatum has reportedly agreed to a five-year, $314 million supermax contract extension with the Boston Celtics.

The deal is the largest in NBA history – and the first to surpass the $300 million cap.

Tatum’s contract reportedly includes a player option and a trade kicker.

The deal means the newly crowned NBA champions have already distributed nearly $1 billion to the starting five.

A few weeks later, Jaylen Brown signed a five-year, $285.4 million extension last year.

Jrue Holiday received a four-year, $134.4 million contract during the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

Meanwhile, Derrick White reportedly agreed to a four-year, $125.9 million contract just hours before news of Tatum’s deal broke on Monday.

That’s $919.4 million committed by the Celtics to their starting lineup over the next five years alone.

Tatum, 26, averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 49 assists during the 2023-24 regular season.

The 6-foot-1 forward recorded 25.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.1 steals during Boston’s postseason run.

His versatile play in the NBA Finals with the Dallas Mavericks earned him four of 11 votes in Finals MVP voting.

Brown finally received the award after the Celtics defeated the Mavericks in five games.

Boston’s spending spree comes after the franchise’s owners announced Monday that they would make the team available for sale.

“The controlling family of the ownership group, after considerable reflection and internal discussion, has decided to sell the team for estate and family planning reasons,” they said in an affirmation.

The board of directors of the Celtics’ majority ownership group expects to sell a “majority stake” in the organization this year or early 2025, with the balance closing in 2028.

He also predicts that team governor Wyc Grousbeck will hold the position “until the second close in 2028.”

The group led by Grousbeck bought the C’s for $360 million in 2002.
