And fans have made their feelings about replacement Cronin, 33, clear.

“Great job this morning Courtney,” one posted on X.

“The first show is so much better with the guest host haha,” added another.

“Plus Courtney Cronin at ESPN, she really understands sports. And it’s just factual shit, no bias,” commented a third.

Cronin fans may get exactly what they wanted after Chris Russo suggested Smith might not return until OCTOBER on yesterday’s program.

“We won’t see you know who until the NBA gives notice in October,” Russo said.

“So, Draymond Green, get used to it. In this program for the next three months, it’s truly yours.

“I’ll be the executive producer. I’ll bring the cast… as Stevie A. says, First House, what’s the show called!?”

“First go into the house.”

Cronin grew up in Glenview, Illinois, and earned degrees in journalism and Spanish from Indiana University.

She started at The Clarion-Ledger as a high school sports reporter and then joined the Mercury News before becoming an NFL staff reporter for ESPN.

Cronin reported on the Golden State Warriors, Oakland (Las Vegas now) Raiders, San Francisco 49ers and San Jose Sharks,

Since 2017, she has called ESPN home, working as a presenter and reporter.

She covered the Minnesota Vikings before taking on the role of Chicago Bears NFL Nation reporter in 2022.

On today’s First Take, Brian Windhorst – also serving as guest host – said that LeBron James is planning a big move away from the Los Angeles Lakers.

Stephen A. Smith’s journey through the media

STEPHEN A. Smith is now the face of ESPN and executive producer of First Take, having initially started working for the company in 2003.

Smith has held numerous roles at the network, including radio show host, contributions to SportsCenter and appearance on NBA Countdown.

He was a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer from 1994 to 2010.

He started out as an NBA writer before becoming a general sports columnist.

Prior to that, Smith worked as a reporter at the Winston-Salem Journal, the Greensboro News and the New York Daily News.

“What’s the next thing he wants? What did he make clear after playing with his son? He wants to own the next expansion team in Las Vegas,” Windhorst explained.

“So the biggest thing other than health that we’re going to see that will determine when LeBron’s career ends is when the league owners put a timeline on when they’re going to establish this expansion team. in Las Vegas.

“Now nothing is guaranteed and they keep putting that asterisk on everything, but I suspect once the TV rights deals are done, which should be this summer, they will have it done. They extended Adam Silver’s contract.

“They’re going to bring expansion to the table and they’re probably going to pick a year in which that happens.

“It won’t be next season, so it will probably be at least two years from now.

“And that’s what I think LeBron will be focused on. He wants to join partners to become the face of the franchise in Las Vegas.”
