BASKETBALL superstar Angel Reese is ready to join Hersey’s, with Reese’s Pieces possibly available in a grocery store near you soon.
According to TMZ, WNBA star Reese will join forces with the famous bakery.
It looks like a new partnership could emerge from something that originally started as a joke.
Reese’s Chicago Sky team recently defeated the Indiana Fever, the team that fellow superstar Caitlin Clark plays for.
After the game, Reese went to X, a site formerly known as Twitter.
“Reese’s Pieces, where are you?????” she wrote.
Shortly thereafter, Hershey’s Reese’s account responded to this comment.
“Where are we? Just following our favorite player,” was the reply.
Now it appears that something more substantial in terms of business may be at play.
TMZ reports a spokesperson telling them: “Reese x Reese looks pretty tasty.”
Reese has already revealed that he is a fan of the sweets.
And she recently showed off some custom peanut butter cup sneakers made by shoemaker Marvin Baroota.
The increase in interest and popularity in women’s basketball over the past year has been dramatic.
Reese and Clark were the main reasons for this explosion of interest.
Record television audience numbers watched the duo in action during this year’s March Madness.
And now both are in the WNBA as part of a brilliant rookie class.
How the WNBA works
The 2024 WNBA season features 12 teams, with the regular season running from May 14 to September 9.
Each team plays 40 regular season games – four against five teams from the same conference and two teams from the other conference, and three games against the remaining four teams.
The top eight teams in the league standings qualify for the playoffs – regardless of which conference they are in.
The playoffs will use a best-of-three format in the first round, while the WNBA semifinals and finals will be best-of-five.
This season also includes a month-long break for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Las Vegas Aces are defending back-to-back WNBA champions.
Reese has already made WNBA history this season.
She became the first player to record a double-double in 10 consecutive games.
The 22-year-old couldn’t hide her emotions earlier this week after being selected for the WNBA All-Star Game.
“They just told me I’m an All-Star,” she said.
“I am really happy. I know the work I did.
“Coming into this league, a lot of people doubted me and didn’t think my game would translate and that I wouldn’t be the player I was in college or better, or I would be worse and I wouldn’t be where I am now. “
