NBA superstar LeBron James has admitted that his retirement from basketball may not be far away.
The 20-time All-Star signed a two-year, $104 million extension with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this month.
James, 39, is currently the oldest active player in the NBA.
Despite approaching his 40th birthday, the Akron native remains at the top of his game.
He appeared in 71 regular-season games for the Lakers last season, the most since 2018.
LeBron has always insisted that he wants to reach a peak and is aiming for a fifth career ring next season.

But James admitted in an interview with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin he will be able to leave the sport when his new contract expires in two years.
“I mean it could be [my last NBA contract]”, revealed Tiago.
“I would never sit here and say, ‘Oh, maybe not.’
“Yes, it can be. Easily. But we’ll see what happens.”
LeBron will also be alongside his son Bronny in 2024-25 after the 19-year-old was drafted at No. 55 last month.
James is confident that his son, who spent just one college season at USC, can handle the pressures of the NBA.
“I don’t know if people really understand Bronny,” he continued.
“He does not care [what other people think]. In fact, I care a little.
“When I entered [as a rookie]I wanted people to like me and some of the things people said about me bothered me early in my career.
“He doesn’t give a shit. He doesn’t care about anyone.
“He doesn’t even listen to that stuff. He’s the coolest. He’s the complete opposite of his dad.”

LeBron is already making plans for his post-basketball life.
The 39-year-old is building his $37 million dream home in the heart of Los Angeles.
Photos obtained by The US Sun showed builders hard at work on the home, which sits in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains.
LeBron is currently in Las Vegas, Nevada, preparing for Team USA’s gold medal match at the Paris Olympics.
It is James’ first visit to the Olympic Games since his triumph in 2012.
