ANGEL Reese is in the middle of the WNBA Rookie of the Year race, but she hasn’t won everyone over yet.

Reese was on a historic streak of 15 consecutive doubles, but his streak was snapped against the New York Liberty.

ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III celebrated this streak being stopped after the game, claiming that Reese was trying to pad the stats.

“Angel Reese holds the WNBA record for most consecutive double-doubles with 15, and that streak came to an end today.” Griffin wrote on X.

“Down by 14 with less than 20 seconds left in the game, they needed 2 points to keep the run going and the New York Liberty weren’t getting it.

“Anyone who tells you this streak isn’t a stat pad attempt is not trustworthy. Reese isn’t the first to stat pad late in games or chase records. We’ve seen it in the NBA and the NFL.

“The players care, the fans care, the coaches care and their teammates care about these milestones.

“Good for Liberty for not just letting it continue. Winning and not giving is something we can all respect.”

Reese shot 3-13 from the floor in the game against Liberty, being tied 0-5 in the second half.

Four players surrounded her in the final seconds of the game as she tried to score the basket that would lead to her double-double.

Reese didn’t make a shot and finished with eight points and 16 rebounds in the Chicago Sky’s loss.

She still holds the WNBA record for most consecutive doubles doubles and shared that she is most concerned about winning.

Angel Reese breaks down in tears after being chosen for the WNBA All-Star Game, says ‘so many doubted me’

“[Winning] That’s what’s most important to me,” Reese said.

“I think I did a great job, I managed to be consistent and I already broke the record.

“Then [I want to] being able to just be me and do whatever my teammates need.”

Reese is considered one of the favorites for the Rookie of the Year award alongside Caitlin Clark, but he tries not to focus on that.
