BRONNY James has had a tough time during Summer League – and his latest weakness has fans worried about the rookie.
The son of the iconic LeBron James had brutal stats while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers in the Summer Turns on.
Bronny James played his fourth Summer League game on Monday night as the Lakers lost to the Celtics 88-74.
The 19-year-old didn’t do well in the contest, scoring 2 points on 1 of 5 shots, three rebounds, one assist, two turnovers and three fouls.
A social media clip of Bronny during the game went viral when the 2024 second-round pick also hit a three-point shot as time expired.
Fans rushed to X to share their concern for the USC product.
“I really feel sorry for Bronny. this is BAD”, commented one of them.
“He must be nervous,” wrote another.
“It’s only going to get better from here,” said a third.
But in his four Summer League games, Bronny shot 7-for-31 from the field and 0-for-15 from three-point range.
Still, Lakers summer league coach Dane Johnson believes LeBron’s son is simply going through the pains of being a rookie.
“He will have a long career,” he said.
“This is just the beginning.
“We just have to keep instilling confidence in them, keeping that in their heads.
“So we still have a long way to go.”
Bronny missed the Lakers’ second Summer League game against the Golden State Warriors with a knee injury.
Los Angeles coach JJ Redick shared his approval of Bronny’s defensive play while speaking to reporters.
“He’s been fantastic so far,” he told ESPN.
“We want him to pressure the ball. I told him yesterday, ‘If you get a rebound, if you commit 10 fouls, it’s my fault, but I want you to pressure the ball.’
The Lakers have lost their last five games.
Los Angeles rookie Dalton Knecht scored 19 points in his last contest.
The Lakers will face the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.
