LeBron James and Steph Curry are among the talented team looking to win USA Basketball’s fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

The US team met in Las Vegas, Nevada, earlier this month before flying to Abu Dhabi for a series of training games.

They were nearly beaten by Australia on Monday, winning 98-92 after holding off a late comeback.

An unidentified source – cited by The Daily Mail – states that there is room for potential “embarrassment” at the Games due to the great personalities of the team.

“The ego that is within the team, everyone thinks for themselves and not for the team as a whole,” the source told the channel.

“This can and will be a disaster if they all don’t change their thought process, they have to play as a team.”

The source added that it is “suspicious and worrying” that the team has not “dominated” in recent preparation games.

Before the six-point victory over Australia, Team USA beat Canada 86-72.

“Many international teams that have played together for longer are more cohesive and have a good chance of defeating the US team,” they added.

Cooper Flagg, a 17-year-old freshman who has yet to play in college, was reportedly the featured player in a recent exhibition game.

Coach Steve Kerr admitted after the defeat against Australia that his players had not yet gelled as a cohesive unit.

“We don’t have the continuity of a team like Australia,” admitted Kerr, for NBA. with.

“That means we have to adapt very quickly, within a few weeks. It takes some time to become a team.”

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the win, while point guard Devin Booker was next with 16 points.

Team USA led by 24 points midway through the third quarter before a collapse saw them win the game by just 6 points.

“In the third quarter, we started turning the ball over,” Kerr continued.

“We lost a lot of points at the basket. Back cuts, offensive hits and just like that, the game changed.

“It’s a good lesson for us. It’s better to learn this lesson now than later.

“And this will be a good tape for us to watch. But I give Australia a lot of credit.

“They were great. They fought. They were very physical. They attacked us in the last quarter and a half and really turned it into a game.”

Team USA will face Serbia in a friendly in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

They will then begin their Olympic bid against the same nation on July 28.
