CAITLIN Clark gave a simple answer by not accepting an invitation to an All-Star Weekend event.

Caitlin Clark declined the WNBA’s invitation to participate in Friday’s three-point contest.

She wasn’t the only one to turn down the opportunity, as the event’s current champion, Sabrina Ionescu, also turned down the request.

The reason for Ionescu’s rejection was due to her intense training schedule on the Olympic field.

WNBA fans were surprised that Clark didn’t accept the challenge to enter the long-range competition.

The Iowa product revealed why she will not be participating in the event.

“I’ve been playing Basketball for a year in a row, it’s not easy to just show up and shoot a rack,” Clark said during All-Star Media Day on Friday, according to the Star of India.

“It’s not something I’ve ever done before.

“It’s not something I’ve had a lot of time to practice, I’ve been focusing on helping my team win games.”

“So I think just taking advantage of this break, I think there will be a lot of opportunities for me to do that at some point… I need a break and I need time to enjoy what I want to do.”

Clark has posted 71 three-point shots on the year so far.

She is tied for third (Kelsey Plum and Arike Ogunbowale) for third-most three-point shots made in the WNBA.

Clark shot 32.7% in his rookie campaign.

She entered the league as the NCAA Division 1 all-time leading scorer.

During his senior season, Clark made a jaw-dropping 201 shots from behind the arc.

Clark averages 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game

She finished her college career averaging 5.15 threes per contest.

The WNBA three-point contest will involve Alisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream, Jonquel Jones of the New York Liberty, Marina Mabrey of the Connecticut Sun and Stefanie Dolson of the Washington Mystics.

“The field of shooters we have in the competition is very good, they are all close to 40% [three-point] shooters,” Clark said.

“I’m excited for them, I’ll be there supporting them and it will be fun.”
