NBC is expected to reach a broadcast deal with the NBA that would begin with the 2025-26 season.

On Tuesday, details of the network’s schedule for that season were revealed on Comcast’s Tuesday earnings call.

Comcast President Mike Cavanagh shared some of the information about the deal for the NBA’s return to NBC.

The network will broadcast six conference finals games and first- and second-round playoff games over 11 years.

Every year, NBC will broadcast a season-opening doubleheader, the NBA All-Star Game and All-Star Saturday Night.

The network will also broadcast 50 games on its Peacock streaming platform, including Monday night doubleheaders and playoffs.

NBC will also air a Martin Luther King Jr. Day double play.

It appears that NBC will have most of the content currently aired by the NBA on TNT.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of TNT, is trying to match Amazon in the “C” package of NBA games.

Comcast’s earnings call also revealed that NBC will acquire the rights to the WNBA in the league’s new media deal that works with the NBA.

The NBA’s days may be numbered on TNT

That deal will include three WNBA Finals series and multiple playoff games.

ESPN and ABC have broadcast the WNBA Finals since 2002.

NBC has broadcast games from the league’s inception in 1997 to 2001.

The network will also receive more USA Basketball games in future as the Paris Olympics approach.

NBC will be back business with the WNBA, as the league has become extremely popular this year.

The WNBA prospered with Caitlin Clark, Angel Reeseand other newcomers entering the league.

What does the new TV deal mean for the NBA?

By US Sun Assistant Sports Editor Damian Burchardt.

The new television rights deal promises to be a big win for NBA players.

The league is expected to more than double revenue from its media partners, pocketing around $6.9 billion per year, which will inevitably lead to a huge salary cap increase in 2025-26.

This will cause the value of players’ contracts to skyrocket.

Projected numbers suggest we could see the first $100 million per year deal being signed soon.

Boston Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum is currently set to earn the highest single-season salary in NBA history, bringing in $71.5 million in 2029-30.

If TNT Sports successfully fulfills one of its bids to maintain its decades-long partnership with the league, basketball fans will also be on the winning side.

The network’s flagship Inside the NBA is a unique sports entertainment program, as evidenced by ESPN’s continued failure to present its own version of the show in recent years.

The NBA wouldn’t be the same without Kenny and Ernie trying to make sense of Shaq and Chuck’s endless fights every Tuesday night.

TNT has broadcast the NBA since 1988.
